Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao

Well Well Well... That picture of Manny Pacquiao is just how I feel right about now... I think we as Pacfans, we as Boxing fans, are trying to get the "Kick Floyd's Ass" taste out of our mouth.

Hi Timothy:

Thanks for giving us boxing fans a chance to voice our opinions and thoughts about Manny's potential future opponents.

I'll get right to the point. Manny should not even consider fighting Antonio Margarito while Antonio is not licensed to fight in the United States. There is a reason for his loss of his license in California and that is because he cheated in a very dangerous way by stuffing his handwraps with illegal materials.

I, along with hordes of other boxing fans, simply do not believe that Margarito is innocent of any wrong-doing concerning his illegal handwraps. There is no way that this man did not look at his hands while they were being wrapped prior to his fight with Shane Mosley. It just isn't possible unless one wants to convince himself in believing that Margarito put blinders on, or stared at the ceiling or wall, or closed his eyes, or had his head shrouded in a box while his hands were being wrapped that night. We all know that a fighter sits directly in front of his trainer when his hands are being wrapped and that ALL boxers watch as their hands are wrapped. Whether the California State Athletic Commission found that Margarito was directly involved with the illegal handwraps is immaterial. Truly, he and Bob Arum, and yes, even Manny Pacquiao must know that there is no way that Margarito was oblivious to the fact that his hand wrappings were being illegally stuffed.

PARIS AND I DON'T MEAN TEXAS – Some people are calling for both HBO sports bossman Ross Greenburg and Floyd Mayweather Jr. to issue public proclamations about how and why the so-called second round of “negotiations” for a Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao bout fell apart.

I think all that really occurred was made of papier-mache to begin with, that the only onsided action was Pacman promoter Bob Arum simply presenting a list of the accepatable terms under which his fighter would tangle with “Money May” on Nov. 13.

"I've got to go, now that's Qatar on the phone...."

Employees and friends of Manny Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum know that he is referrred to as "The Sheik" inside the office walls of Top Rank.

So, it's a bit ironic that Arum closed an interview with me Thursday by saying that he had to converse with someone from the Middle Eastern country of Qatar who wants to bring a Pacman bout there in November.

Pac Fan's Comments!

The fight that must be made is with Sergio Martinez at 154, with no catchweight. It must be this way for many reasons, but two in particular. First is the legacy/legitimacy aspect. Manny can not only win his eighth title but also his Fifth lineal title. Sergio is the toughest

It might have been the Two Petes, both boss sporting scribes and both guys with a twisted sense of humor.

I speak of Peter Bonventre, a prime force at Newsweek and then Inside Sports before he saddled up with me at Howard Cosell's ABC SportsBeat program, and of the legendary writer/bon vivant/racetrack habitue Pete Axthelm.

I think it was the pair of Pietros who came up with "You Never Had It So Good, Inc."
